La gran fiesta de la televisión llegará hoy con la celebración de la edición 68 de los Premios Emmy.

Esta noche, en la ceremonia conducida por Jimmy Kimmel en el teatro Microsoft de Los Ángeles, se entregarán los galardones a lo mejor de la programación en horario estelar, elegido por la Academia de Artes y Ciencias de la Televisión.

En esta edición, la serie Game of Thrones encabeza las nominaciones con 23; el año pasado ganó 12 estatuillas de las 24 a las que estuvo nominada.

Le siguen de cerca The people v. O.J. Simpson: American crime story, con 22 nominaciones, y Fargo, con 18.

Al igual que en 2015, la cadena televisiva HBO va a la cabeza en el número de nominaciones por plataforma, con 94; mientras que los programas de FX Networks y Netflix cuentan con 56 y 54 postulaciones, respectivamente.

 

Por el récord

Este año, Game of Thrones podría marcar un hito en la historia de la televisión, al convertirse en la serie de ficción más premiada desde que se creó este galardón.

La serie estrella de HBO ya acumula 35 Emmys en sus seis temporadas, incluidos nueve que recibió el fin de semana en los Creative Arts Emmys, que reconocen los logros artísticos y técnicos.

Así que en la gala de hoy podría superar los 37 Emmys ganados por la serie de comedia Frasier y convertirse en la más premiada desde que estos galardones se celebraron por primera vez en 1949.

La serie fantástica sobre la disputa entre familias de la nobleza por el control del trono parte como favorita en la categoría Mejor Serie Dramática, donde competirá contra Better call Saul, Downton Abbey, Homeland, House of Cards, Mr. Robot y The Americans.

En la categoría de Mejor Actriz de Reparto en Serie Dramática compiten tres mujeres de la serie: Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Lenna Headey (Cersei Lannister) y Maisie Williams (Arya Stark).

Peter Dinklange (Tyrion Lannister) y Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) se disputan el galardón a Mejor Actor de Reparto en Serie Dramática.

El late show de comedia "Saturday Night Live", que se transmite desde 1975, consiguió 16 nominaciones este año, con lo que rompió récord al alzarse como el más nominado en toda su historia, con 209.

 

ARTES CREATIVAS

La entrega de los Creative Arts Emmys 2016, que premia las categorías técnicas, se realizó los pasados 10 y 11 de septiembre. Ahí, la serie "Game of Thrones" se coronó como la gran ganadora con siete galardones.

 

JIMMY KIMMEL

Es la segunda vez que el conductor y comediante será el presentador de los Emmy, la primera vez fue en 2012.

La gala de la edición 68 de los Premios Emmy 2016 se transmitirá hoy desde el teatro Microsoft, en Los Ángeles a partir de las 16:00 con la alfombra roja, por E! Entertainment. A las 18:00 horas comenzará la premiación por Warner Channel.
