"Calle del Oro // Street of Gold"

Ubicada en el Viejo Mazatlán, la calle del Oro, ahora Sixto Osuna, es un buen punto de partida para conocer una de las zonas más antiguas del puerto y apreciar los edificios que fueron construidos en aquellos años.
En su tiempo, el pueblo mazatleco bautizó esta vía como calle del Oro, porque ahí se encontraban los negocios y casas comerciales más importantes de la ciudad, especialmente la Casa Melchers, una empresa alemana que transportaba oro a Europa.
De los lingotes que se descargaban en plena calle surgieron historias, como la presencia de pasadizos subterráneos en las casas más ricas de entonces, que lo mismo servían para comunicarse que para albergar el metal precioso.
Visite el Centro Histórico del puerto, camine por esta calle y recuerde esta pequeña historia del siglo 19. Los edificios de esta angosta vía siguen prácticamente intactos, en ellos se encuentran restaurantes y un hotel boutique. La magia sigue presente.



'Street of Gold'
Corners with history in Old Mazatlan

Located in Old Mazatlan, the "Street of Gold", now called Sixto Osuna Street, is a good starting point to get to know one of the oldest zones of the port and to appreciate the buildings that were built in those years. Back in the day, Mazatlecans called this thoroughfare the "Street of Gold" because the most important businesses and commercial houses, especially the Melchor House, which was a German business that transported gold to Europe, were located here. Lots of stories circulated about the gold ingots that were unloaded in the middle of the street, stories such as the presence of underground passageways in the richest businesses that served to connect the places to places where the gold was stored.
Visit the Historic Center of Mazatlan and walk along this street and you can feel the history of the 19th century. The buildings on this narrow street are pretty much still intact and they house restaurants and a boutique hotel. The magic is still present.
