Mazatlán será escenario de un evento de altos vuelos, primero en su tipo en México, con las exhibiciones aéreas de aviones ultraligeros, paracaidistas y de globos de Cantoya que se realizarán éste jueves 17 y viernes 18 de abril, previas al Triatlón Pacífico 2008.
Todas las demostraciones se realizarán a lo largo de la playa, entre el Monumento al Pescador y Valentino; los horarios y puntos de exhibición pueden variar por motivos de la dirección y fuerza del viento, pero siempre habrá algo sorprendente para mirar.

Jueves 17 de abril
9:00 a 11:00 Dos aviones ultraligeros tipo delta volarán con pancartas a lo largo de la bahía.
12:00 a 13:00 Vuelo de tres paramotores y un ala delta con motor (mosquito).
16:00 a 17:00 Salto simultáneo de dos paracaidistas desde aviones ultraligeros tipo delta.
18:00 a 19:00 Desde la playa se liberan seis globos de Cantoya.

Viernes 18 de abril
7:00 Liberación de seis globos de Cantoya
11:00 a 13:00 Dos aviones ultraligeros tipo delta remolcan pancartas y regalan miniparacaídas.
15:30 a 15:55 Liberación de seis globos de Cantoya y exhibición de vuelo de aviones de radio control.
16:00 a 16:35 Exhibición de listones voladores.
16:50 a 17:25 Remolque de alas delta, intentarán romper record
17:25 a 17:45 Exhibición y maniobras de alas delta.
17:55 a 18:20 Seis paramotores realizarán maniobras con giros de 360 grados en vuelo simultáneo con una distancia entre cada equipo de 500 metros
18:30 a 18:55 Ascenso de paracaidistas.

Globos de Cantoya
Elaborados en colorido papel de china, tienen formas redondas y cuadradas, se elevan con aire caliente y sus trayectorias de vuelo están regidas por el viento.

Paracaidistas acrobáticos
También llamados hombres ardilla, van a saltar a más de 4 mil pies (más de mil 200 metros) de altura.

Aviones ultraligeros
Los vuelos con pancartas se realizan a un promedio de 600 pies (183 metros) de altura sobre el nivel del mar.

Aviones de radio control
Son modelos a escala que vuelan a una altura máxima de 100 pies (poco más de 30 metros) y despegarán desde el malecón.

Listones voladores
Dos aviones ultraligeros tipo delta remolcarán listones de colores, con un largo de hasta 400 metros.

Record
Un avión tipo delta con motor intentará remolcar tres alas delta a la vez para su vuelo autónomo. La liberación se realiza a 1500 pies (457 metros) de altura para realizar maniobras acrobáticas.

Paramotores
Exhibición acrobática, los vuelos se realizan desde el nivel del suelo y hasta 600 pies (183 metros) de altura sobre el nivel del mar.




TIPOS DE VEHÍCULOS
Parapente. Es un planeador ultraliviano flexible que no necesita motor y pesa menos que el piloto.
Paramotor. Es una especie de parapente al que se añade un arnés con un motor y una hélice para propulsión.
Ala delta. Sirve para planear y realizar vuelos. Puede o no tener motor. En el primero de los casos debe partir de lugares elevados o ser remolcado por otro vehículo.





High flying

Mazatlan will be the scene of a high flying event, the first of its type in Mexico. There will be an air show this Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18 featuring ultra-lights, parachutists and hot air balloons. It will be held prior to the 2008 Pacifico Triathlon.
All the demonstrations will take place along the beach, between the Monument to the Fisherman and Valentino; the time and exhibition spots can be changed because of the wind´s direction and power, but there will always be someting amazing to look at.

Thursday, April 17th
09:00 to 11:00 Two Delta-style ultra-lights will fly along the bay with banners
12:00 to 13:00 The flight of three paramotors and a “Mosquito” (motorized Delta wing or hang glider)
16:00 to 17:00 Simultaneous jump of two parachutists from ultra-lights
18:00 to 19:00 Six hot air balloons will be let loose from the beach

Friday, April 18th
07:00: the setting loose of 6 hot air balloons
11:00 to 13:00 Two delta type ultra-lights will tow banners and drop mini-parachutes
15:30 to 15:55 Letting loose 6 hot air balloons and an exhibition of radio controlled airplanes above XXXX
16:00 to 16:35 An exhibition by the Flying Ribbons
16:50 to 17:25 A towing of Delta wings (hang gliders) that will try to break the record
17:25 to 17:45 An exhibition and maneuvers by Delta wings
17:55 to 18:20 Six paramotors will carry out some 360 degree maneuvers in a simultaneous flight only 500 meters apart

Hot air balloons
They are made with colored Chinese paper and come in round and squared shapes. They are elevated with hot air and their trajectory is dictated by the wind.

Acrobatic parachutists
They will jump from an altitude of 4,000 feet. They are sometimes called “squirrel men”.

Ultra-lights
The flights with banners are done at an average of 600 feet.

Radio control planes
These are small models done to scale that take off from the malecon and fly at 100 feet.

The flying ribbons
Two Delta style ultra lights will tow colored ribbons up to 400 meters long.

The record
A motorized Delta plane will attempt to tow three Delta wings at the same time and release them so that they can fly alone. They will be set loose at 1, 500 feet and do acrobatic maneuvers.

Paramotors
This is an acrobatic exhibition that goes from the ground up to 600 feet.

Parachutists
Two Delta style ultra-lights will take two parachutists up to jump out at 6,000 feet. They will land at XXX beach.

Gliders
This is ultra-light and flexible. It needs no motor and weighs less then the pilot.

Paramotor
This is like a glider but it has a harness and a small motor and prop for propulsion.

Delta wing (hang glider)
This is used for gliding and flying and it may or may not have a motor. If a motor is not used, one must take off from elevated locations or be towed up.
